The representatives of the European Christian Environmental Network (ECEN) visited Belarus from September 29 to October 2, 2019. The visit was organized by the invitation of the Church and Environmental Protection Department of the Center for Environmental Solutions. The group consisted of the ECEN Secretary Rev. Dr Peter Pavlovic and the ECEN moderator Per Ivar Vaje from the Church of Norway. During the visit they learnt about various environmental projects carried out by the Center for Environmental Solutions that cooperates closely with the Belarusian Orthodox Church, the Roman Catholic Church as well as with the Protestant churches in the country.
The group participated in the discussions on the role of churches in ecological issues that took place with students of the Institute of Theology of the Belarusian State University during the seminar organized at the Theological Academy in Belarus. They met with the representatives of church initiatives focusing on ecology and discussed the possibilities of work on care for creation in Belarus.
Most of the projects and activities related to church and ecology that the guests got to know about during the visit were implemented and function with the support of the Coalition Clean Baltic.
